On 10 December 2008, the World Association of Newspapers (WAN) and the European Newspaper Publishers Association (ENPA) sent a letter to the Prime Minister of Turkey in order to express their concern at the cancellation of the accreditation of six journalists covering his activities. Shortly after, the newspaper Evrensel published a cartoon inspired by the letter. The cartoon was drawn by Servet Selvi.
