A breakthrough

The World Association of Newspapers (WAN) and IFRA, the world's leading association for media publishing, have joined forces to create an annual top-level executive development programme for the future leaders of the newspaper industry.

They have partnered with an innovative European business school, the Scandinavian International Management Institute (SIMI), with strong expertise in developing industry-specific diploma programmes.

I highly recommend “Leaders” to people who want to get a better understanding of the world-wide changing landscape in the newspaper industry and to all those who want to become a key-player within the New Economy. You will get a deeper strategic knowledge as well as useful tools for implementing the input at home.

We will conduct this highly successful programme for the third time at the end of 2002. Leaders 2002 is a three-module programme spread over four months.

It is tailor-made to the newspaper/media industry and provides a vehicle for developing middle managers who have demonstrated high potential.

The programme will expose the participants to fresh and innovative thinking related to newspapers, including electronic publishing and e-commerce.

The learning approach is based on a combination of lectures by leading professors from the world's top business schools; case studies that illustrate how the lectures can be applied; "action-learning" where the participant applies the learning to the real business world of his/her company, and input from leading executives and CEOs in the industry.

Who Should Attend

"The SIMI leadership program, organised by IFRA and WAN, has proven to be an excellent instrument to train promising members of our management.

The programme is a strong balance between the development of management skills, industry specific business cases and international networking. The rate charged for the program may seem high, but it is in fact low if you consider the quality and compare the added value in relation to the total cost of the managers we are sending there."
