PressPoint will make a substantial investment in WAN Training & Events, which helps newspapers increase readership and revenues through study tours, seminars, conferences, publications and the exchange of information. "As a leader in the changing news and information industry, PressPoint is a key partner to help us enhance our programmes, which address the business issues facing newspapers," said Constantine Kamaras, Director of WAN Training & Events. "We're very pleased to be sponsoring the activities of the World Association of Newspapers," said Lance Primis, PressPoint's Chairman. "Over the last few years, PressPoint has had the opportunity to use the WAN events as a meeting point as well as a platform to actively learn from the various programs and industry knowledge base. As we continue to develop our marketing and distribution service, we look forward to exploring the many new opportunities presented to us--by WAN and our publishing partners--during this exciting period of transition in the newspaper industry." PressPoint distributes-then-prints newspapers internationally, providing travelers and expatriates with same-day editions of some of the world's most influential titles, wherever they are in the world -- delivered directly to hotel room, office, convention center, or from the corner newsstand. The Paris-based WAN, the global organization of the newspaper industry, created the Training & Events Bureau to help newspapers sustain and increase readership and to win, against intense competition, both traditional and new revenues from advertising and other sources. The WAN Training & Events division has a comprehensive programme of activities intended to help newspaper managers to improve operations and products and to identify new business ventures, notably in the area of electronic publishing. WAN represents 17,000 newspapers; its membership includes 64 national newspaper associations, individual newspaper executives in 93 countries, 17 news agencies and seven regional and world-wide press groups.
