The figures on newspaper reach, or readership, among adults find
Sweden leading the world for the first time with 88 percent, overtaking
Finland, which has dropped 5 points to 86 percent since 1999 and
now ties second place with Norway; Hong Kong is in fourth place
with 81 percent penetration and Japan is fifth, with 80.4 percent.
In the United States, 57 percent of adults read a newspaper every
day and 75 percent every week.
