 Title: The Telegraph in Schools
Produced by: Ananda Bazar Patrika
Country: India
Language: English
Category: Publications by the Young

• Description:
The Telegraph in Schools programme developed to put the newspaper into the hands of students to offset the decline in reading among young people. It uses young reporters to produce a weekly stand-alone newspaper that has a circulation of 24 000 including 17 000 into schools. There are 600 tiger reporters (aged 14 - 18) and cub reporters (aged 10 - 14). The programme also supplies a range of classroom materials, club meetings, special events and workshop training.

• Audience: Students in primary and secondary school

• Age group: 10 - 18

• Results: The project involves students and teachers in 278 schools around Calcutta. With an average student population of 800, this means a total student audience of over two million was reached with the project, only 3% of the potential audience.
