Venue and hotel booking

The 8th World Young Reader Conference & Expo events will take place at the Prague Marriott Hotel, situated in central Prague. .


We are encouraging participants to book rooms at Andel's Hotel, a short metro ride away. Rooms for this or other selected hotels can be booked via the conference site at www.wan-press.org/prague2009

NOTE: The Conference is being held under the auspices of the Mayor of Prague, Mr. Pavel Bem, who has kindly offered his official apartments, historic rooms in Art Deco style, as the venue for the opening reception Sunday night.

9h00 - 18h00, sessions at the Prague Marriott Hotel, address: V Celnici 8 Prague, 111 21 Czech Republic. Optional evening events include study visit to
Mladá fronta DNES integrated newsroom and viewing of "Power of the Powerless" documentary about role of Czech youth in the 1989 Velvet Revolution.

Tuesday 29 September 2009
9h00 - 18h00, sessions at the Prague Marriott Hotel, followed by dinner
hosted by the Czech publishers association

Wednesday 30 September 2009
Optional study visits and workshops at the state-of-the-art Andel Media Centrum, home of some leading Czech newspapers: Mladá fronta DNES, Lidove noviny and the free newspaper Metro. Sessions will be finished by 13h.



Who should attend

The Conference welcomes publishers, chief editors, marketing and newspapers in education managers and other senior newspaper executives. Educators are also most cordially encouraged to attend.


Visas

The Czech Republic is part of the Schengen zone and thus no visa will be required to attend the conference for citizens of other European Union countries, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and the United States. Residents of other countries should check well ahead of time with their local Czech visa center or with the consulate in their country or region handling Czech and Schengen zone visa matters. WAN will provide invitation letters as appropriate.


Working languages

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English and French for the main sessions; English for the workshops and study visits on Wednesday 30 September.. Other languages can be provided if a minimum of 10 delegates require them.

Coaching Partnerships

Some colleagues have already volunteered to serve as partners to coach a conference participant about a full array of young reader strategies, not only at the conference but also via our World Young Reader Network after everyone goes home (see next item). Please tick on the relevant box of the registration form to receive details.



The World Young Reader Network

All registered participants will automatically become members of the World Young Reader Network and be invited to join the re-launched online version of this professional community of newspaper people who care about the young. We are offering all the relevant social network features, plus the chance to query our expert speakers in that specialized space.
